Spider Bugs (スパイダー・バッグ Supaidā Baggu) are zero-g general purpose spacecraft (宇宙作業艇 Uchū Sagyōtei, lit. Space Work Boats) featured in the Super Dimension Fortress Macross television series.[1]
Technology & Combat Chasracteristics
Spider Bugs were developed by Glamor to shoulder roles that exclude combat. A Spider Bug has four light-work hands and one heavy-work hand, and engaged in work outside of the SDF-1 Macross.[2]
The pilot sits in an almost upright position at the front of the main body.[1]
History
Space War I
The U.N. Spacy often kept these units aboard many of their capital spaceships.[2] On February 7, 2009,[3] the launch day of the SDF-1 Macross, the eleventh Spider Bug was floating around inside of the ARMD-01 Space Carrier with a VF-1A Valkyrie after Vrlitwhai Kridanik fired two shots from the guided beam cannons on his Nupetiet-Vergnitzs-class Fleet Command Battleship which put the ARMD-01 Space Carrier out of commission.
