The Thuverl-Salan-class (スヴァール・サラン Suvu~āru saran) is a class of vessels featured in the Super Dimension Fortress Macross and Macross Δ television series. They were the Standard Battleship (標準戦艦 Hyōjun Senkan) used by the Zentradi during Space War I.[1]

Technology & Combat Characteristics

Thuverl-Salan-class Battleships are the main combat asset of a Zentradi fleet. Their service lives are excellent.[2]

Each Thuverl-Salan-class Battleship has a length of 2 300 meters and a mass of 39 500 000 metric tons.[1][2] A Thuverl-Salan-class Battleship can pulverize enemy ships with its armaments that are installed in various locations. It is said that the ship was developed from the closing period of the Protoculture.[3]

History

Space War I

Thuverl-Salan-class Battleships were the core of the Vrlitwhai Kridanik's fleet and were also in charge of escorting the Fulbtzs-Berrentzs-class Motherships.[3]

On February 7, 2009,[4] the launch day of the SDF-1 Macross, many Thuverl-Salan-class Battleships folded into the orbit of Earth as part of Vrlitwhai's fleet. After the SDF-1 Macross automatically activated its cannon, destroying the Picket Patrol Ships Vrlitwhai had sent for reconnaissance, Thuverl-Salan-class Battleships were ordered into a striking position by Vrlitwhai, moving to a lower orbit. Several Thuverl-Salan-class Battleships then engaged in battle with the U.N. Spacy's Oberth-class Destroyers and ARMD-class Space Carriers. ARMD-01 had launched SF-3A Lancer II Space Fighters to attack a single Battleship but the Space Fighters' long range missiles did no damage when they hit the Battleships. Three Battleships then approached the ARMD-class Space Carriers and Long-Range Anti-Ship Reaction Missiles turned out to be effective in destroying one Battleship. (SDFM: "Boobytrap")

On April 3, 2009, Zeril, a Captain of one of the many Thuverl-Salan-class Battleships, was summoned by Vrlitwhai and ordered to approach Saturn to capture the SDF-1 Macross, preferably undamaged. Captain Zeril’s battleship proceeded to shoot at the rings of Saturn. When his battleship faced the SDF-1 Macross, he tried to use missiles but they were ineffective due to the Pin-Point Barrier system. He launched Regults stored upon the battleship which fought against the Valkyries. During the battle, the VF-1J piloted by Hikaru Ichijyo fell into his battleship. The SDF-1 Macross performed its "Daedalus Attack"; loading up Destroids on the bow of the Daedalus, positioning the pin point barrier on the bow of there, punching right into the Battleship, opening the doors allowing the Destroids to fire. Captain Zeril and his crew were killed and his battleship blew up. Hikaru managed to escape. (SDFM: "Daedalus Attack")
