Hey there FortressMaximus. I was trying to find any info or images online for the creatures in the motorcycle scene of Macross Plus. The characters are driving past a field with animals that look like a cross between a cow and a chicken. I haven't been able to find reference to them anywhere online and always thought they were a neat idea. Any information you have would be helpfull and I love the name. Keep up the fantastic work.
Just noted that the broken images in Miss Macross are a result of your moves of those images. And the broken template in Bye Bye Sheryl - the result of you renaming Template:Infobox/Episode and deleting the old one without leaving a redirect. I strongly suggest that you use Special:WhatLinksHere before moving anything, and then either leave the redirects or fix broken links (IIRC images don't work with redirects and require link fixing, but templates support it). This is not the first time I noted varioius red links etc. that you've created this way. Pretty please with cherry on top - an experienced wiki user like you should know better then to break things like this. Cheers,
I think I finally found a source for the X spelling in one of the MDelta specials; 4th I think? Where Messer is delivering the pizza, the box has latin script that spells XAOS. I haven't seen a better source yet, did you?
As I am sure you are aware, there is no clear English terminology (http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/topic/33597-macross-translations-and-more/ , etc.). The redirect is helpful. This term is used throughout the Internet and this wiki. I see no ground for declaring that New Unified Government is more or less correct than New United Nations Government, unless you can show me a screencap of that phrase in the animation. (Not sure how official we can consider dubs to be...).
Why did you delete it last year? I'd wager a guess you moved it to Category:Species? It is now a red link from this wikia front page (illustrating my point that deletions should be carefully thought out, least they leave red links). If so, I suggest restoring it as a category redirect to fix broken links.
There are few pages out there I cannot edit to add links, etc. I left comments on heir talk pages, you can find them quickly through wiki activity or perhaps by some special page listing protected pages. I doubt any pages here need protection for more than few days, if at all (main page aside, due to its high profile visiblity, plus I have no reason to edit it right now anyway). Thanks in advance,
Still not unprotected; your link to Super Nova is broken, no link to UN Spacy, few more I see could be linked. Really, no need to bother with protecting anything. Why was it protected in the first place?
I agree that we should try to use the destination pages over redirects, through I consisder this a secondary concern to ensuring articles have blue links. Most readers don't carea about spelling, but about navigation through hyperlinks. It's just like on Wikipedia: fixing redirects only happens on articles that approach Featured class. We have a lot of other work, missing major core topics, etc. before we have to seriously worry about such nuances. But yeah, in case it wasn't clear from what I said, I agree on principle that using correct, destination links is eventually better.
I'll unlock them if you stop creating unncesary redirects, you are messing up the way the episode infobox works. It works out episode articles with a series shortname in their name or "episode" in their name. This is in case episodes from different have the share an episode title (Miss Macross (SDFM) and Miss Macross (Macross F)) or if a an episode is shared with a different entity (Lynn Minmay (episode) and Lynn Minmay).
You don't need to create "SDFM" and "episode" redirects every SDFM episode. In fact you did this for Macross Plus and Macross Frontier Episodes, too, stop it.
No proper page links to Boobytrap (episode). The "<parameter> (episode)" internally works as part of the code in Template:Cite and Template:Infobox/Macross/Episode. Those templates check if such a <parameter> (episode) exists, if it doesn't, it checks if the <parameter> (<shortname>) and then if that doesn't exist, only then does it link to <parameter>. The templates never actually display the broken links unless <parameter> (episode), <parameter> (<shortname>) and <parameter> all do not exist as pages.
By creating unnecessary redirects, these episode infoboxes will link to them instead. Because they take precedence over the page they're supposed to redirect too in the code. Every user will experience "Redirected from ..." under every episode page title but only people doing maintenance will see Special:Insights/wantedpages.
Anyway, I am intending to replace Template:Cite with Template:Ref that will put mentions of episodes and series at the bottom in the references section.
Ref will require a list of episode names for every series though, it'd be tedious to write. Much easier on Gundam Wiki which has Semantic Media Wiki and Buddy Complex Wikia which only has 12 episodes and a special.
