There's no way the 120 Northampton vessels of the Macross 7 fleet during AD2045 would have VF-171 at all. VF-171 was never shown in the Macross 7 show.
The exact VFs on board most likely depends on the fleet, era, and any roll out progress of new models. I presume the "37 x VF-171" would be specifically what the Frontier fleet has around 2059?
