The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? (超時空要塞マクロス 愛・おぼえていますか Chō Jikū Yōsai Makurosu Ai Oboete Imasuka) is a movie released in 1984, adapted from the television series. In Macross 7, the movie became a "story within a story" in the main Macross Timeline.
Synopsis
A race of giant male bionoids from outer space attacks the Earth, and the humans send their super space fortress to repel the invaders. The space war turns into a three-way conflict when the invaders' arch enemy arrives - a race of giant bionoids. Both bionoid armies assault Macross with huge robot-like spaceships. The Earthlings appear doomed...until they discover their human behaviour has strange effects on the aliens.
Plot
In the Solar System, Vrlitwhai Kridanik discusses a ship they have been tracking. To their surprise it isn't the ship of the Meltrandi. Exsedol Folmo presents Vrlitwhai with holograms of the debris from the enemy ship... objects they discover are of Miclone size. Also, upon receiving strange sound signals near the enemy ship, many of their troops became incapacitated. Vrlitwhai deeply wonders what could be on that ship!
On the enemy ship, known as the SDF-1 Macross to the humans, the crew of the huge bridge maintain the ship. Misa orders the Skull, Angel, and Apollo squadrons to standby for take-off from the ARMD-class carriers attached to the ship, and its VF-1 Valkyries launch successfully. In the city section of the ship, civilians are going about their daily lives and new, young celebrity Lynn Minmay finishes performing My Boyfriend is a Pilot at a concert. She then performs a medley of songs from her new album (going on sale that day), beginning with Shao Pai Long. Part way through the performance, the SDF-1's massive "transformation sequence" is broadcast throughout the ship.

Trivia
- Despite the majority of the dialogue being Japanese, several lines are in full, fluent English including the warning for the SDF-1 Macross' transformation sequence, and background dialogue during the fighter launch sequences and bridge scenes.
- An in-joke, several animators made the missiles look like beer cans, including a Budweiser Can and "Hata Iko" (Octopus Highball Missile).
- This film marks the first instance in the franchise when the Zentradi language is spoken onscreen.
