Yasaburō Saotome (早乙女 矢三郎 Saotome Yasaburō) is a character that appears in the Macross Frontier television series. He is a Kabuki actor, the apprentice of Ranzō Saotome and the adopted older brother of Alto Saotome who often calls him his "older brother".

Personality and Character[]

Despite his mild-mannered and kind appearance, Yasaburō is a stubborn and persistent man, making multiple attempts to convince Alto Saotome to return to his father and become the rightful heir to the Saotome family.

While Yasaburō is a talented kabuki actor and seen as the potential successor to Ranzō Saotome, Yasaburō feels that Alto is denying his talent as a kabuki actor and is running away from his true calling, believing that Alto is only going through a phase as a pilot and will inevitably return to kabuki.

History[]

After Alto Saotome left home and his profession of being a Kabuki actor, Yasaburō became the heir to the Saotome family legacy, despite being the adopted son of Ranzō Saotome. When he watched Legend of Zero, the "Bird Human" film adaptation, he saw Alto playing a stunt double and realized that Alto still had the blood of the actor within him. Since then, Yasaburō often visited Alto, hoping to persuade him to come back to his ancestral home and take his rightful place as heir.
